I Am London 2026: Two Centuries of Newcomers
Since 2013, I Am London has celebrated the immigrants who choose our city and make it home. London turns 200 this year. To mark the anniversary, we tell the stories of ten newcomers, one for each 20-year period from 1826 to today. Some came here before Canada became a country in 1867. Others arrived in the last 20 years. Their lives are part of London's history. They also connect our city to events in Canada and around the world.
We share a new profile every week this fall, in order from the earliest period to the most recent. Each profile has a short article.
The story of this land begins long before 1826. We acknowledge the traditional territories of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron peoples, and honour the original stewards of this land.
